Kevin Devine - “Just Stay”
In my kitchen, fall 2007.. In 1999 I started a label with two of my close friends, Neil Rubenstein and Dave Cohen.. Our third release was a band that Dave brought to the table, the debut record from a band called Miracle of 86 featuring an 18 year old Kevin Devine.. Very early on Kevin played me some stuff he was working on as a side project, some acoustic tracks.. soon after he released his first solo album on Immigrant Sun.. I remember going to see Kevin play a solo show at the Mercury Lounge in 2003, he had all of these amazing new songs, one that really stuck out was called “Ballgame” .. I didn’t have a label anymore but I wanted to make sure this record got made.. A few weeks later I brought a bunch of Kevin’s new demos to Fred at Triple Crown, he fell in love with those songs as quickly as I did.. Later that year Kevin released “Make the Clocks Move” on Triple Crown / Dubin Inc. (my imprint!)…
